We are currently seeking a hands-on leader to fill the role of Assistant Facility Manager at our terminal located in Gleichen, AB. As the Assistant Facility Manager, you will be responsible for all activities related to the handling and shipping of grain. You will be involved in the day-to-day operations of grain procurement, inventory maintenance management, grain shipments, grain grading/blending, grain sales and related documentation.
Your job is to optimize throughput and grain handling of facility. The successful candidate must be capable working at heights, in dusty conditions, and outdoors.
Responsibilities:
- Grain receiving, storage, handling, drying, blending and loading of grain;
- Monitoring stored grain conditions and maintaining and cleaning grain facilities and equipment to provide a safe environment;
- Perform or assist in routine maintenance and repairs;
- Coordinate the function of bringing in railcars and/or trucks to ship grain according to grade and dockage;
- Communicate and train staff on policies and procedures ensuring proper grain handling in a profitable and efficient manner;
- To implement, enforce, and monitor corporate safety, health and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Provide training and development to facility assistants on grain grading, binning, and blending;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education considered an asset;
- 3 years of previous or related experience in the grain industry;
- Grain cleaning experience is an asset;
- Experience with agriculture, farm equipment and a mechanical aptitude is preferred;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel & Outlook;
- Valid class 5 driver’s license.
