Paterson Grain is looking for a motivated and organized HR professional to join our team on a term basis. The ideal candidate will have previous HR or recruitment experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple ongoing priorities.
Term: Present – January 2027
Potential opportunity for long-term employment following the term.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with recruitment activities including job postings, career fairs, and candidate outreach
- Review, shortlist, and organize resumes for hiring managers
- Conduct reference checks and candidate pre-screens
- Coordinate and book interviews with candidates and managers
- Enter new hire information and employee hours into company systems accurately
- Update and maintain Excel trackers
- Maintain employee files and ensure confidential information is handled appropriately
- Support onboarding activities for new employees
- Provide reception coverage and assist with general front desk duties
- Respond to general employee and applicant inquiries
- Provide administrative support to the HR team as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in Business, Human Resources, or a related field
- 1–2 years of experience in a similar HR or recruitment role preferred
- Experience in agriculture or Western Canada rural recruitment is considered an asset
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage numerous ongoing tasks and competing priorities
- Comfortable working with distractions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
