We are currently seeking a hard-working, hands-on individual to fill the role of Bagging Operator at our Heartland facility located in Toledo, OH. This role will be in a plant facility setting, bagging fifty pounds of Pet Food, Race Horse Oats and Animal Feed while meeting company and industry standards, working safely, and complying with Food Safety, GMP and sanitation guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Operate the Fischbein sewing/bagging machine with weighing scale to meet daily production goals and ensure proper bag weight.
- Ensure bagging machine is set up correctly, operates efficiently, and maintains maximum output and productivity.
- Stack 50lbs bags on pallets according to company, customer, food safety, and quality standards.
- Operate a forklift to move pallets within storage areas and load/unload trucks and trailers per shipping schedules.
- Complete and maintain required production, packaging, and shipment documentation and logs.
- Track bags filled, bags used from pallets and maintain daily production records.
- Change stitching machine thread as required and clean equipment according to the maintenance schedule.
- Report all equipment or maintenance issues to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area in the bagging and warehouse areas, following strict sanitation guidelines.
- Understand and comply with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), safety, food safety, and sanitation policies.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Be available to work overtime or alternate shifts as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; one to three months of related experience or training preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to uphold regulatory, company, and customer standards.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with others.
- Experience working under tight deadlines and managing changing priorities.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write basic correspondence and communicate information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheet software, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.

- This position will work in the plant and outdoors, therefore subject to all weather conditions, sometimes to include extreme cold and heat. The work described while working in the plant or outside will require wearing all PPE depending on circumstance which may include dusk mask, safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection, leather gloves, safety vest, and steel-toed footwear.
